Drafts
Greetings Fellow Activist, Here is the draft of the hand out for event attendees: SPACE AT TOP OF HAND OUT FOR ORGANIZATION LOGO Rally, March, Informational Picket, Protest for or against (Fill in blank) Location of event Date WHO ARE WE? WHAT DO WE SEEK? We are law -abiding citizens of New York State who have peaceably assembled to affirm our support for the Second Amendment and the rest of the Bill of Rights to the United States Constitution. WHY ARE WE PICKETING? We want to make everyone at this event aware of their Constitutional Civil Right to own and use firearms for any lawful purpose under the Second Amendment. This is a right all sane and law abiding citizens have whether we exercise it or not. WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO DO? Stop bigotry and prejudice against gun owners. HOW DO WE DO THIS? We help people recognize and expose bigotry and prejudice against gun owners. They are then better able to discredit public officials and advocacy groups who promote and exploit bigotry and prejudice. Once people are able to recognize and discredit opportunist-bigots who seek to undermine a Civil Right that belongs to ALL of us, they are able to stop them from doing more harm -- and can start to undo the harm that has already been done. WHY SHOULD YOU CARE? Call them Civil Rights, Civil Liberties or Constitutional Rights they are the same, and they are birth rights of us ALL that we have received from American patriots who came before us. If we don't pass these rights on to our children -- INTACT -- these rights, birth rights of ALL Americans will die with us. Here is the draft of the Press release: SPACE AT TOP OF HAND OUT FOR ORGANIZATION LOGO Rally, March, Informational Picket, Protest for or against (Fill in blank) Location of event Date WHO ARE WE? WHY ARE WE HERE? We are American citizens who have peaceably assembled to seek a redress of grievances from government officials who are not respecting our Constitutional Civil Right to keep and bear arms. As American citizens , We have a responsibility to protect and preserve ALL of the rights, freedoms and protections guaranteed ALL Americans by the Bill of Rights and the 13th, 14th, 15th and 19th Amendments. These are our Constitutional civil rights and liberties, they are a birth right of ALL Americans extended to all naturalized citizens. Call them Constitutional Right, Civil Rights of Civil Liberties they are one and the same and mean as much to tens of millions of gun owners, conservatives and Constitutionalist as some Civil Rights to millions of blacks. Further, we have a responsibility to pass on to a new generation these same rights and liberties, which were protected and preserved for us by those who came before us. Unfortunately, today's popular culture does not recognize our civil rights, Constitutional rights and civil liberties as being one and the same, arising from the Bill of Rights and certain later Amendments to the Constitution. Thus, many Americans do not know what all of these rights are. The Second Amendment is an important civil right, but the popular culture treats this right and those who exercise it with disdain. Many people do not recognize the belief systems that encourage bigotry and prejudice against this civil right as promoting bigotry and prejudice. People who can not recognize such belief systems -- and even celebrate opportunist bigots who promote and exploit such bigotry and prejudice -- are not able to protect, preserve and pass on all our civil rights to a new generation. We seek to expose these belief systems so as to discredit the lies and exaggerations from which bigotry and prejudice arise. We act in the hope that exposure will stop the opportunists (bigots who exploit popular bigotry and prejudice) from further damaging this civil right and help undo the damage already done. Briefly , our cause is this: popular culture treats gun owners with contempt and ridicule, and bases it's disdain for Second Amendment rights on bigotry and prejudice -- not on scientific research or historical fact. Belief systems that encourage people to ridicule, despise and hold in contempt an entire group of people for the actions of criminals or a deranged few, promote bigotry and prejudice -- and are usually based on lies and exaggerations. Public policies based on lies and exaggerations are unjust, and do not work because they are directed at the wrong target. If the foregoing description of popular culture's treatment of gun owners fits your perception and arouses misgivings against that treatment -- heed the misgivings! We need your help. Please examine our views and the underlying facts. If you can stand with us on this civil rights issue, we welcome your participation.
