On Thursday April 27th the Erie County Legislature voted to approve a new fee structure for pistol permits issued in Erie County.
New Permits $20
($10 existing fee and $10 fee for digitized image capture and fingerprint image)
Duplicates (first time) $15
($5 existing fee and $10 fee for digitized image capture and fingerprint image)
(after first time) $7
($5 existing fee and $2 processing fee)
Transfers (first time) $15

What does this mean for me?
If you have an existing permit and you are not making any transfers, you need do nothing. No fees are due. You can keep your existing permit and you do not have to pay anything.
If you have an existing permit and are making an amendment, duplicate or transfer, then you will have to pay an additional $10 fee for your digital picture and fingerprint image. This image will be used on your new plastic credit card type pistol permit. NOTE THIS IS A ONE TIME FEE. Any subsequent amendments, transfers, or duplicates will require only an additional $2 fee to print a new card.
If you are getting a new permit, you will have to pay a $10 processing fee to the county. This fee has always been authorized by the state penal code section 400. Recently Erie County has begun collecting this fee. You will also have to pay a $10 fee for your digital picture and fingerprint image. NOTE: THIS IS A ONE TIME FEE. Any subsequent amendments, transfers or duplicates will require only and additional $2 fee to print a new card. You will no longer be required to supply photos for your permit, saving an average of $8-$15.
NOTE: Due to SCOPE's efforts you will no longer be charged $3 for every change when making an amendment. No matter how many changes to your permit, you will only be charged $3 for amending your permit, as per NYS law, plus $2 to print a new card.
